analyzing moving images

 Today we did analyzing moving images, basically we look at short films and analyze the shots, body language, audio, etc. I did two then we use the analysis to give us tips for our films. we didn't do too much this class because this was right before Halloween. but for the most part I learned new shot angles and how much body language can affect a film. 

The films I analyzed

 I'm analyzing the film: stalker. it starts off with the character walking. it has a lot of close-up shots. there is a stalker in the background so you're able to see them clearly. they had mics so the audio was really clear there wasn't one time I couldn't hear what they were saying unlike other films. they also added sound effects which really brought out what they were trying to portray. the notes from the stalker throughout the film were very clear as well like I was able to read everything they showed. all the camera angles were perfect. it felt like I was watching a real horror movie. all in all, they executed this film perfectly. I give it a ten out of ten for sure!

my second one

I'm analyzing the film Karma. the film starts with visual effects that are there throughout the film and their audio was good the sound effects kind of went over them talking just a little but other than that the audio was good. they started  3/4 shot and then moved in to kind of an over the shoulder shot too. as it continues on it moves to a 2 shot and finally a wide shot when they find their friend "dead". the acting was on point, the plot was interesting, the visual effect were cool and really added on to the films idea. the writing on the white board was see- able and the lighting really fitted what their film was trying to portray. the video was only a minute and 1:11 minutes long so there's not too much more to add but overall their film was really good!

first film

In the few weeks we finally uploaded our film, Pink Kill. Our project, Pink Kill was a horror intro. It actually got shown to all our peers in the school media center. I was honestly nervous about how people would react to Pink Kill. Everyone really seemed to enjoy it. My teacher even said Pink Kill was a hit, which made all of us feel proud of our project.

The only thing that was a little off in Pink Kill was the audio in the beginning because we had to remove the sound and do a voice-over for it but it still came out pretty good.

Our film, Pink Kill was about a group of friends getting picked off one by one by their classmate. In kind of funny over the top ways. For example one girl gets sprayed with perfume. Goes, "Ew this is so last season!". Then dies dramatically in the film. At the end the killer is revealed wearing a pink hoodie which is where the name "Pink Kill" came from. We definitely added some comedy to Pink Kill so it could be like a horror comedy.

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

This was my time ever making a film and I’m not gonna to lie I was really nervous about being on camera and messing up my lines.. Saying my lines in front of people for made me feel awkward at first. My shot had to be redone a bunch of times because I kept breaking character or forgetting what to say. It was a little frustrating. Also kind of funny looking back at it because i had like 3 lines and it wasn't too big of a deal then i was making it out to be .

There were moments where I didn’t totally agree with what my team wanted to do for Pink Kill. Then I remembered that this was everyone’s first time making a film. We were all learning as we went so I tried to be patient and open-minded for it. I’ve always wanted to act. Maybe even be an actress someday but I never really had the chance or the tools to try it. Being in this class made me feel like I’m finally getting comfortable in front of the camera of hiding from it for Pink Kill.

Overall I had a lot of fun working with my team on our film intro. We laughed a lot stressed a little and somehow pulled everything together for Pink Kill. I’m honestly excited for our film because now I know what to expect and I feel way more confident about making another film honestly.
