semester reflection blog

this semester went by soo fast!. it feels like it was just yesterday I was learning the basics but now ive done and learnt so much. before winter break i wanna look back on everything and reflect on the things ive learned so far.

vocabulary & conventions - we've started the foundation- learning film terms and conventions. at first it was a lot to take in but now words like mise-en-scene and continuity and editing etc make more sense to me. i can definitely use them more comfortably.

the four elements of film- this was a big deal. breaking down into camera, audio, editing, and mise-en-scene changed how i used to watch films.
camera- i learned about angles, movement, and framing. its cool how a low shot angle can make someone look so powerful

audio- sound is literally everything!!. music, dialogue, and even silence can change the mood.

editing- cuts, transitions, pacing- editing really controls the flow of the story.

mise-en-scene- basically everything in the frame props, costumes, lighting. its like the vibe of the scene in question.

film intros- weve practiced creating film intros and its honestly my favorite part!
abobe premiere- At first it was intimidating

Updates!

Next week my team and I have a film intro due. my group and I have finished filming around the school.

To be honest it was really nice to work with my team because we all get along so it makes the filming process easier. while filming this week we did have to improve some lines and scenes. I would say there was like only one issue which would be the music my school play on the speakers so when we were all filming you can hear it while we talked but ironically it matched up with the context for the scene. For instance when the girl got the confidence from her friend to confront her crushes girl best friend the music in the background was like uplifting, and when she finds out he didn't even mention her to his girl best friend she walks away sad and the background music says " down down down down" my group and I all thought it was funny.

For the most part everyone is just catching up on our blogs and editing if they didn't finish yet.

Filming my film intro

So this week was kinda busy since it was right after Thanksgiving break. I’ve been trying to get back into the groove of working on my project.

Finding a location: I started looking around for where I could film my intro and honestly the school just made the most sense. It’s easy to get to and I can picture how the shots will look in the hallways and classrooms. plus my partners wanted to work around the school aswell.

Film inro worksheet: I finished that up, which helped me figure out what I actually want my intro to be like. Writing it down made me realize how it connects to the rest of my project.

Storyboard: I started working on my storyboard and it’s kinda cool seeing the shots drawn out. It makes it feel more doable, like I can actually see how it’s going to play out. I still need to finish it and upload it, but I’m getting there.

Research: I’ve been looking into different genres. It’s interesting seeing what people expect from certain types of films and thinking about how I can use that in mine. I've watched a lot of film intros from my peers, and it was cool to see what they came up with.

Anyways my group and I are going to start filming right away, we've decided to call our film "Ghosted".
